auckland marriage celebrant

?? Make sure your Celebrant is Registered!

I had a call yesterday from a very distressed bride – her wedding is in 2 weeks time and she thought she had booked a celebrant 6 months ago – but she has never heard from this person and she cannot get hold of her!!

It turns out this person is not registered! If your Celebrant isn’t registered with the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs – they cannot legally marry you!!!

Only registered celebrants can perform weddings or civil unions in New Zealand. You need to arrange your celebrant before you can get a marriage licence.

So, it makes sense to use a professional Celebrant and check on the NZ Gazette published by the Internal Affairs by clicking here.

His third wife’s wedding dress is no exception. Melania Trump’s wedding dress took 1,000 hours to make, 550 hours of which were dedicated to hand-sewing 1,500 crystal rhinestones and pearls. Just an understated, simple gown then. Oh, and a low-key affair.

Alternatives to a Ring Exchange

One of my lovely couples wanted to know about alternatives to the Ring Exchange which usually follows your vows and symbolises your eternal commitment to one another.

However, your wedding ceremony should be exactly as you want it to be – it’s your day and it’s all about YOU!!!!

So, if one of you or both of you can’t wear rings for work or don’t want to exchange rings because you’re just not jewellery wearers or for any other reason here are a few alternative ideas…

Unity Ceremony

Handfasting

Ring Finger Tattoes

Message in a Bottle

Handwritten Vow Exchange

Exchange artwork

Tree Planting

Wine Lock Box

Exchange Lei’s

‘Blessing’ of the Hands

… or you could just simply exchange your vows then be pronounced Husband and Wife.

First Dance ♥ lessons

One of my cute couples mentioned they are taking dance classes for their first dance – at the same studio My Darling and I took some.
I tell you – the instructors at Ucan2 Dance Studio in Albany, Auckland – are amazing!! Our guests were blown away by our talent (that we never had before dance classes)!!!
Check out some behind the scenes footage of a couple who take on the challenge – the results are impressive!!!

To Elope, or not to elope…

My cute Irish hair colourist (who obviously lives in NZ) got engaged recently to a kiwi bloke. Her dream wedding would be set back in her home country in the Dublin hills with a cosy, quirky winter vibe. However, they have a small family of three young boys which already makes the travel costs alone super expensive. Plus travelling back to Ireland would mean a big cost to her fiance’s family and all their NZ friends. So what does she do??

Well, she’s thinking of a simple elopement – just the two of them, leaving the kids at home! That way no one family gets upset or has to budget more than the other – plus they get to put their money towards a well deserved romantic mini break! I love it! (Even though I would love to be their Celebrant, it makes alot of sense.) And save the huge expense for other important things that matter. And then, just have a big BYO party for friends and family next time you’re all together!

When I was googling ideas on eloping – it seemed eloping was a whole new level of wedding planning. I’m a bit confused – I thought eloping was meant to make it easier so you could just focus on the two of you?! So I would say if you choose to elope stick to simple and make it a celebration of your love story – otherwise you may as well have the whole shebang!
