Same-sex Marriages

I was shocked to read the article in the NZ Herald about the celebrant complaining he wasn’t granted registration because he refused to perform same-sex marriages.

Quite right too – I hate to think that there are celebrants out there that don’t embrace individuality and personal choice. On the other hand you wouldn’t want to be married by someone with bigoted views anyway.

Registrar-General of Births, Deaths and Marriages, Jeff Montgomery, said independent marriage celebrants were bound by the Human Rights Act not to discriminate against people on the basis of their sexual orientation.

“When I am personally appointing independent marriage celebrants [it is to] provide a public service, so if the celebrant says when we ask in the interview that they are unwilling to provide service to anyone who is legally able to get married, including same-sex couples, then they will not be approved,” he said.

Mannequin Challenge Wedding ♥ Weird or Cool?

Photographer Gets an Entire Wedding to Do the Mannequin Challenge

This might be one of those few times when the word “epic” applies. For her latest newsworthy feat, celebrity wedding photographer Suzanne Delawar managed to get an entire wedding—wedding party and guests—to stand perfectly still several times for the #mannequinchallenge.

To call this impressive is a big understatement. Most wedding photographers can’t get wedding guests to simply stay out of their way, somehow Delawar was able to get them to all stand perfectly still several times over.

Funny enough, both Delawar and the bride Jemima had the idea to do this at the exact same time.

“It’s a funny story,” Delawar says “I had the idea and called Jemima. She laughed and said, ‘Oh my god, Suzanne, I had just sent you a message on Instagram asking if we could do it!’”

The resulting 1:30 video probably turned out better than either of them expected though. It’s brilliant, documenting the entire wedding—from bride and groom prep, to seeing the bride for the first time, to walking down the aisle, to the dance floor—frozen in time.

As of this writing, the video has been viewed almost 5 million times on facebook where it has over 104K likes, 87K shares, 10K comments. We’d say that’s a job well done…

Key places you can play music during your ceremony are: as guests arrive, the Processional song where our Bride/Groom make their grand entrance walking down the aisle, Signing of the Register and Recessional at the ceremony conclusion.

This moment when a woman asked her girlfriend to marry her has gone viral, and it’s mostly thanks to the reaction of a bystander – look at that excitedly shocked face of the woman in the background : )

Reportedly the happy, stylish couple are Jessica Rodriguez and Chelsea Miller. Jessica got down on one knee and asked for Chelsea’s hand in marriage at the Art Institute of Chicago – a venue chosen because of the couple’s shared love of art.

“If someone could describe our love it could only be done through a work of art,” Jessica wrote on Instagram. “It is happy, fun, chaotic, inspiring and strong.”

How beautiful.

Word is they’ve been in contact with the older woman in the photo, and even plan to invite her to their wedding!

We wish this beautiful couple all the best with their planning.

Here’s the video!

We all know that most celebrity marriages do not last, but we can be sure of one thing: stunning bridal gowns.

She walked down the aisle in a bridal gown made for royalty. The gown was created by Helen Rose, a costume designer for MGM. Grace wore the dress with a gorgeous topper made of 90 yards of tulle.
